Hi and welcome to my website! I'm Dr. Brad Stanfield, a General Practitioner based in Auckland, New Zealand.
My journey in medicine began at the University of Auckland, where I completed my MBChB in 2015. Since then, I've gained extensive experience working in various medical fields, including general medicine, orthopaedics, and emergency medicine. In June 2024, I was awarded Fellowship of The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
Currently, I serve as a practicing GP at Tuakau Health Centre, a semi-rural clinic.
One of my core professional passions is preventative care. I've seen first-hand patients coming into the emergency department with crushing chest pain from a preventable heart attack, or patients with slurred speech and difficulty moving one side of their body from a preventable stroke. In today's age, with the tools available, we should be doing a far better job at helping people stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Proactive, holistic, and informed healthcare choices are the key to a healthy and long life. This belief drives my work both in the clinic and beyond. I run a YouTube channel with over 250,000 subscribers, where I present the latest preventative care guidelines, clinical research, and practical health tips. My goal is to empower my audience with knowledge that they can then discuss with their own doctor to prevent disease.
My commitment to advancing medical knowledge extends to research as well. Before becoming a GP, I co-authored several papers in reputable journals, covering topics from appendicitis treatment, recovery from acute coronary syndrome, and most recently, Rapamycin therapy. My work has been published in the International Surgery Journal, Trials, the New Zealand Medical Journal, and the Annals of Behavioural Medicine.

On a personal note, I am married to my wonderful wife, and we have two amazing children. Balancing family life with my professional responsibilities is challenging but incredibly rewarding. My family is my greatest source of joy and motivation, and I strive to be a positive role model for my children, both personally and professionally.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active and spending quality time with my family. We love exploring the beautiful outdoors of New Zealand, whether it's hiking, going to the beach, or simply enjoying a picnic in one of Auckland's many parks.
